It is a common misconception that as the market falls, the Rateable Value in the list can be adjusted. This is not the case. The current 2010 list is assessed on rental levels as at 1st April 2008. At Chivers Commercial we have detailed databases of rentals throughout the midlands from the anticedent date which can assist with appeals on the basis of too high an assessment.
